ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- The work of the incumbent, concerned with HR & IR forms part of the HR function under the HR department. LTS is for a period of 4 years effective November 2011. The work of the incumbent concerns with Industrial Relations. The incumbent is responsible to collect all relevant internal and external information required as inputs for starting the negotiations and creating necessary infrastructure. He is a member of the team for conducting negotiations. The incumbent is accountable for drafting of the agreement and also for arranging tri-partite meetings as and when necessary. The incumbent is personally responsible for initiating disciplinary proceedings i.e. framing of charge sheets, conducting of domestic enquiries, etc. All legal matters related IR issues are followed up by the incumbent including liaisoning with advocates including attending to the cases in the court. The incumbent also assists the RH-HR on the specific issues assigned

The incumbent is responsible to collect all relevant internal and external information required as inputs for starting the negotiations and creating necessary infrastructure. He is a member of the team for conducting negotiations. The incumbent is accountable for drafting of the agreement and also for arranging tri-partite meetings as and when necessary. The incumbent is personally responsible for initiating disciplinary proceedings i.e. framing of charge sheets, conducting of domestic enquiries, etc. All legal matters related IR issues are followed up by the incumbent including liaisoning with advocates including attending to the cases in the court. The incumbent also assists the RH-HR on the specific issues assigned to him from time to time such as man-power planning, (both management and non-management), and planning for PCMM. The incumbent is guided by policy in finalizing the matters relating to increments, promotions etc., With respect to recruitment of NM (Non management) level trainees, the incumbent plans and conducts campus interviews. The major challenge faced by the incumbent relates to convincing the Trade Unions on progressive steps adopted by the Company towards becoming more competitive by adopting Business Excellence Model, their individual contributions for developing Business Excellence Culture in the Organisation through total Employee involvement, transparent communication, maintaining discipline, reduction of wasteful expenditure of resources and related costs. It is also a challenge for the incumbent to convince the user departments on the need for getting higher productivity with the existing manpower whenever there arises a need for more people from the departments, so that all avenues are explored before fresh intakes are taken Competency Profile required 1. Thorough Knowledge on Different Labour Legislations and their Current Status. 2. Ensuring Timely conclusion of wage settlements with Union. 3. Contacts to be made and maintained by outside agencies like Govt.departments (State Labour Departments)/agencies such as labor, Management Institutes, Polytechnic Institutes and Professional Bodies like NIPM,HRD Network and ISTD etc. 4. Handling all the Grievances raised employees with prompt response. 5. Proactive ness and Spontaneity in dealing with the unions. 6. Creation of a positive culture in the plant amongst all the employees.
