About Job
The Head of Cotton Procurement is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of cotton procurement activities for the organization from domestic and international markets. This includes developing and executing procurement strategies, establishing and maintaining supplier relationships, ensuring quality standards, and managing the procurement team. The individual in this role will play a crucial role in ensuring a consistent and reliable supply of high-quality cotton while optimizing costs and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Procurement Strategy:
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned annual goals.
- Conduct market analysis, assess risks, and identify opportunities to enhance the procurement process.
- Supplier Management:
- Effective management of the supply chain (self-initiative, agent appointment, other cost effective modes)
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with cotton suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure favorable terms for the organization.
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
- Quality Assurance:
- Develop and implement quality standards and specifications for cotton procurement.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure adherence to established standards.
- Cost Optimization:
- Work to optimize costs while maintaining product quality and supplier relationships.
- Implement cost-effective procurement strategies and monitor budget compliance.
- Compliance and Regulation:
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, legal requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Stay updated with industry trends and changes in cotton procurement practices.
- Team Management: Allocate resources and responsibilities effectively to achieve goals.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels to ensure an adequate and balanced supply of cotton while minimizing excess inventory.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including production, logistics, and finance teams, to ensure seamless operations.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate and analyze procurement reports to provide insights on performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree
- 15-20 years of experience in cotton procurement or related roles, with a proven track record of success in managing procurement activities.
- Strong knowledge of cotton industry trends, quality standards, and procurement best practices.
- Demonstrated negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.
