Our client company is actively seeking a business-oriented R&D leader with over 17 years of industrial R&D experience to fill the role of Director of Research and Development. The ideal candidate will have a consistent track record of delivering monetized products and solutions across innovation horizons. They will lead a team of 30+ full-time researchers (including 6 managers) and 45+ functional contributors across 4 locations in India, working within a matrix structure with global technology platforms and local business units.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Restructuring:
- Lead and mentor a team of 30+ full-time researchers, including 6 managers, to drive innovation and R&D excellence.
- Restructure the team to establish stronger connections with product management and manufacturing units, enhancing collaboration and efficiency.

Talent Development and Transversal Programs:
- Create a technical talent pool framework to identify and develop key talents within the organization.
- Initiate transversal programs across technical functions in India to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Innovation Portfolio Management:
- Drive the innovation portfolio comprising 25+ projects, with a focus on delivering new products and solutions to the market.
- Achieve new product sales targets, contributing to business growth and revenue generation.

Process Improvement and Time to Market:
- Lead innovation improvement initiatives for the region, focusing on reducing time to market and enhancing R&D efficiency.
- Coach and drive cross-functional teams on the internal "Time to Market" model developed by the R&D VP.
Requirements:
- BE/B.Tech degree in a relevant field.
- 19+ years of industrial R&D experience, with a proven track record of delivering monetized products and solutions.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading large R&D teams in a matrix structure.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and foster collaboration between R&D, product management, and manufacturing units.
- Experience in talent development, including creating talent frameworks and initiating transversal programs.
- Proven track record in portfolio management, achieving sales targets, and driving process improvements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and influence cross-functional teams.
