About Job
Our client company is seeking a professional wherein S/He will play a key role in the overall successful adoption and hence growth of Geneva root stock business which is poised to generate INR 80 crores in the very first year of its launch, by developing 4 to 5 model orchards in close coordination with farmers in Apple growing areas like Himachal and Kashmir. S/he will achieve this by troubleshooting any teething technical/ agronomic issues and delivering training and assistance on the use of latest agricultural technologies and practices, to achieve operational excellence towards scaling up the per plant yield of apples from 5 to 6 tonnes per acre to 20 tons per acre. A similar activity will be carried out with root stock of other plantation crops like banana and citrus fruits, pear, cherry etc.
Job Description
Role Requirement
- Experience: Relevant experience of 6 to 7 years
- Educational Qualification: B.Sc. in Agriculture (Horticulture)
- Knowledge Required
- Fruit crop cultivation including agronomy, fertigation and nutrition management, irrigation systems
- Must be familiar with the insects, diseases and control measures for the crops of the company & interest
- General agriculture practices, familiarity with agricultural machinery, types of equipment and mechanization
- Proficiency in record keeping, data analysis, and report writing
- Key Competencies and Skills
- Effective interpersonal skills to build a good rapport with growers and effectively conduct training
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with diverse groups
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to addressing grower needs and challenges
- Proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues, analyzing data, and interpreting agronomic information to make informed recommendations.
- Collaborate with diverse teams
- Willingness to travel to meet with growers, attend industry events and provide on-site technical support as needed.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of agriculture and agronomy.
- Willingness to interact/establish excellent rapport with scientists from regional agriculture universities/Institutes.
