The primary purpose of this role is to drive regional marketing strategy, sales growth, and product positioning in the plant nutrition sector. The individual will manage market development activities, build customer relationships, and provide technical support to distributors, ensuring the promotion and success of the product portfolio. The role also focuses on demand generation, agronomy support, and the execution of marketing and promotional campaigns, while aligning sales and development objectives with business goals.

Job Description


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the regional marketing strategy to support sales growth and establish product positioning as a premium offering in plant nutrition.
  • Identify and develop unique selling propositions (USPs) and differentiators using market knowledge and competitor analysis.
  • Align and manage a team of Market Development Experts/Product Promoters to meet sales and development objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with distributors, including large fertilizer companies, to achieve volume and margin targets.
  • Propose marketing and promotional materials/events to stimulate sales and drive brand awareness.
  • Maintain an action plan and be accountable for administrative tasks, including capturing market intelligence and providing periodic reports to managers.
  • Forecast demand and advise on demand planning for the product portfolio.
  • Promote the value proposition of fertilizers, including specialty products like SOP, CaTs, and KTs.
  • Manage product field trials and demonstrations to showcase product benefits and value.
  • Maintain and leverage a network of technical contacts to promote product benefits and drive sales.
  • Provide technical support, including training for distributors' sales and marketing teams, as well as growers.
  • Support the Business Development Manager (BDM) in lead generation and follow-up with potential customers.
  • Prepare an annual budget for marketing, agronomical trials, and expenditures, analyzing variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Submit periodic reports as required by management.
  • Engage in seminars/events that offer educational, networking, and lead-generation opportunities.
  • Build and manage relationships with distributors, customers, and scientific organizations in the territory.
  • Monitor customer needs, trends, and feedback from competitors to assess impacts on sales strategies.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment and ensure the well-being of staff, distributors, and customers.
  • Ensure personal and team safety in all operations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field (M.Sc. or MBA is a plus).
  • 8-15 years of business development or commercial experience in the fertilizer/crop nutrition industry.
  • Strong knowledge of drip irrigation, fertigation techniques, and foliar application.
  • Experience in B2B international sales, including knowledge of legal and regulatory aspects of selling fertilizers in India.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of responsibility, efficiency, and integrity.
  • Strong communication skills in Hindi, English, and ideally one local language.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Highly organized, disciplined, and skilled in data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
