The incumbent must maintain harmony among over 3,000 on-roll and nearly 14,000 off-roll employees with varied expectations and work cultures. The role’s complexity is heightened by multiple active unions and associations with strong external ties, requiring exceptional skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and conciliation to manage daily interactions, resolve disputes, and secure amicable settlements without disrupting operations. Success demands strategic insight to anticipate unrest, balance business goals with employee welfare, and foster strong relations with government and political bodies. As the custodian of industrial harmony, the position ensures operational continuity, workforce stability, and a cooperative, motivated organizational environment
Job Description
Key Roles and Resposibilites :

Manage industrial relations for 3,000 on-roll and 14,000 off-roll employees, ensuring harmony across diverse workforce categories.

Lead daily negotiation and engagement with 37 unions and associations, ensuring timely dispute resolution and conflict management.

Drive long-term settlements balancing employee welfare, business sustainability, and complex political sensitivities.

Oversee labour litigation across Labour Courts, Tribunals, and High Courts, ensuring strong legal representation and compliance.

Direct disciplinary actions and departmental inquiries, ensuring fairness, transparency, and adherence to statutory norms.

Implement early-warning systems to anticipate unrest and maintain industrial peace across all plant locations.

Build strong relationships with government authorities and political stakeholders to support stable and cooperative IR climate.

Resolve employee grievances proactively using structured processes and transparent communication mechanisms.

Integrate legacy government employees with new recruits, fostering collaboration and cultural alignment.

Strengthen workforce engagement through communication platforms, counselling, and employee-centric initiatives.

Modernize IR systems through digital tools, analytics, and automated grievance redressal dashboards.

Mitigate IR risks by monitoring workforce sentiment and implementing corrective actions proactively.

Support policy formulation aligned with labour laws, organizational goals, and industry best practices.

Drive capacity-building initiatives to enhance IR awareness among line managers and supervisors.

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements while improving productivity, safety, and workplace discipline.
