The R&D Head will oversee all research activities and be responsible for defining the overall strategy and planning of all crop breeding-related R&D programs, with a specific focus on key Field Crops
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Hybrid Advancements: Lead and oversee hybrid advancements.
- Line Development Programs: Manage and innovate line development programs.
- Germplasm Resource Management: Enhance and manage germplasm resources.
- Strategy Development: Develop and execute long-term plant breeding strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Product Development: Develop and commercialize competitive high-yielding products with required abiotic and biotic resistance.
- Infrastructure Upgradation: Upgrade infrastructure to maintain a long-term competitive edge.
- Budget Management: Develop, track, and monitor the R&D budget against goals.
- Project Evaluation: Evaluate the progress of seed breeding research projects to ensure they meet deadlines and milestones, domestically and internationally.
- Program Oversight: Design and oversee all aspects of plant breeding programs, from fieldwork to data analysis.
- Institutional Relationships: Develop and grow institutional relationships in India and abroad to access new genetics and technologies.
- Marketing Coordination: Coordinate with marketing programs to align research with evolving customer needs.
- Collaboration: Create positive collaborations with breeders to fast-track new product development.
- Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with regulatory departments for compliance.

- Proven track record in running frugal line development and commercial breeding programs.
- Expertise in developing new techniques, practices, and high-value crop strains, enhancing productivity and resilience.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to create accountability and lead by example.
- Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise.
- Commitment to staying up-to-date with industry developments to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Ability to influence future trends in breeding for quality traits.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
